Every US "junk silver" coin contains a fixed, known amount of pure silver. This calculator multiplies the number of coins you enter by that silver weight and by the live silver spot price above, then adds it all up. It covers the three main US silver alloys: 90% silver (pre-1965 dimes, quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars), 40% silver (1965–1970 Kennedy half dollars and 1971–1976 silver Eisenhower dollars), and the 35% silver "war nickels" minted 1942–1945.
