About Campo & Campo

Campo & Campo is a family-run art gallery and auction house in Berchem, Antwerp, now in its third generation. Alongside its gallery exhibitions, it holds auctions of prints, modern and contemporary art, and classic art and antiques. Guy Campo leads the business, and estimate requests go directly to him.

Its website is organised around four activities: auctions, the gallery, the house collection and exhibitions. Auction catalogues are published online before each sale, so buyers who cannot come to Berchem can still study the lots and bid from a distance.

History

The business dates from 1897, when Guillaume Campo opened a small art shop in his home. According to the house, it survived two world wars and the financial crisis of 1929. The second generation, Freddy and Frans Campo, ran galleries on the Meir, Antwerp's main shopping street, and grew the business significantly by 1960.

Guy Campo became active in the firm in 1984 and has run it since 1992. That year the gallery moved into its present home on Grote Steenweg, an Art Deco former cinema built in 1929. The building was fully restored and now has about 2,000 m² of gallery space.

The house's auctions are organised by type. Its 2026 calendar included:

• A print auction of about 500 lithographs, screenprints and etchings by Belgian and international artists, together with art books
• A modern and contemporary art auction
• A classic art and antiques auction

This makes Campo & Campo a good fit for collectors of Belgian and international modern art and graphic works, as well as for owners of older paintings and antiques. The print auction in particular offers entry-level lots for new collectors.

Selling at Campo & Campo

Campo & Campo gives free price indications for art, antiques and design. Owners can visit the gallery, make an appointment, or email photographs to Guy Campo. Large files can be sent by WeTransfer, and the house asks for JPEG images rather than HEIC files. The auction announcements welcome consignments. The seller's commission is not published on the website and is agreed per consignment.

Buying and bidding

The auction conditions set the buyer's fee at 25% of the hammer price, plus the artist's resale right where it applies. Purchases through Invaluable or Drouot Live cost an extra 3%. Since 2025 Invaluable has also charged an additional fee on lots under €200, and the house suggests bidding through Drouot or its own Campo & Campo platform to avoid it.

Buyers can take part in several ways:

• By purchase order sent by mail, fax or the online catalogue, up to four hours before the sale
• By telephone, for lots above €750, with a request sent in advance along with a copy of an identity card and bank details
• Live online through Invaluable, Drouot Live or the Campo & Campo platform

Location and viewing

The gallery and saleroom are at Grote Steenweg 19-21, 2600 Antwerp-Berchem. Each auction is preceded by a public exhibition.
