One photograph is enough, though several help. Marks, signatures, the underside and any damage are what change an estimate most.

A range rather than a number, with how confident we are and why. It is an automated opinion from a photograph, not an appraisal — we say so on every result.
Decide, whenever
Keep it, sell it yourself, or ask us to find the right auction house. There is no rush: with an account it waits for you until you are ready.
We will tell you when it is not worth selling
This is the part most valuation services cannot do, because they are paid when you sell. What we say depends on the estimate, and two of the three answers send you somewhere other than us.
A specialist will want it. Ask us and we find the right one, confirm they are interested, and introduce you. You are never charged and we take no cut of what you get for it.
Real money, but a specialist's commission and fees would eat most of it. A local dealer or an online marketplace will do better for you, and we say which ones.
The cost and effort of selling would be more than the piece brings in. We would rather say that than waste your afternoon — and if you think the estimate has missed something, our guides cover what to look for.

You can value things without an account, and plenty of people do. There is one thing worth knowing before you rely on that.
Without an account, your valuations live in this browser alone. Clear it, switch to your phone, or reinstall, and there is no way for us to give them back — we have no idea which ones were yours.

What happens to your photographs
The most common worry we hear is that uploading a photograph is the same as contacting someone. It is not.
A scan reaches nobody
Valuing something notifies no dealer, no auction house and no one here. It is a tool you used, not a message you sent.
Only if you say so
There is one optional box at the result: may vetted auction houses see this item? If you tick it they see the photographs and the estimate — never your name, email or telephone number.
We ask before anything moves
If a dealer wants an introduction we come to you first. Nothing is exchanged unless you agree to it, and you can change your mind.
What has been through it
Live figures. We are not going to tell you we have sold anything for anybody, because we have not yet — the introductions side of this is new.
Questions
How are you paid, if not by me?
Auction houses and dealers pay a flat monthly fee to see items whose owners agreed to be seen. If we point you at a marketplace and you sell there, that marketplace may pay us a commission — those links are marked. Neither changes what we tell you an item is worth, or which route we suggest. You are never charged.
How accurate is the estimate?
It is an automated opinion formed from your photographs, so treat it as a starting point rather than a valuation. It cannot judge condition properly, cannot authenticate anything, and will sometimes be wrong by a wide margin. We show a confidence figure with every result for exactly that reason.
Do I have to sell?
No, and most people do not. Finding out is the whole service for the majority of the people who use it.
Who sees my items?
Nobody, unless you tick the box that lets vetted auction houses and dealers see that item. They see the photographs, the estimate, the category and the country — never your name or contact details. Members are checked by a person before they are let in.
Can I delete something?
Yes, an item or the whole account, at any time. Deleting an item removes it from anywhere it was being shown.
