Svendborg Auktionerne is an auction house at Tved Grønnevej 4B in Svendborg, South Funen. It holds traditional live hammer auctions in its own saleroom and also runs separate online-only auctions. History

The present company, Svendborg Auktionerne ApS, was registered in June 2015 according to the Danish business register. It is wholly owned by its director and auctioneer, Martin Birger Nielsen. The register lists auction activity as the company's purpose, and it has nine employees.

The house is especially known for Danish ceramics and stoneware by artists such as Arne Bang and Axel Salto, and for Royal Copenhagen. It says demand and prices are rising steadily for several categories:

• Danish stoneware from the 1920s and 1930s

Selling at Svendborg Auktionerne

You can bring items to the saleroom during consignment hours, which are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, or send photos through the online valuation form or by email. The house also works with a valuation expert in Copenhagen for sellers on Zealand. It makes home visits for large estates and collections, and these are free when the valuation is for an auction. Estate, probate, insurance and bankruptcy valuations are charged by the hour. Consigned items are catalogued and photographed before the sale.

At live auctions the starting price is generally half the estimate. Reserves can be agreed for specific items.

Buying and bidding

You need an account to bid by live stream or to leave commission bids. Live auctions are run under Danish auction law, and items are sold as seen at the viewing, which usually takes place four to five days before the sale. For live sales, there is no right of complaint about purchased items. Online auction lots are described in text and photos, including their faults. The pricelist sets these charges:

• Buyer's premium: 25% including VAT
• Via Invaluable.com: DKK 70 plus 25% below a DKK 1,400 hammer price, 30% between DKK 1,400 and 70,000, and DKK 3,500 plus 25% above DKK 70,000
• Artist's resale royalty: 5% on qualifying artworks, collected for Copydan
• Storage: DKK 400 including VAT per month started if lots are not collected on time

Buyers in the saleroom can pay and take their items home straight away. Live-stream, commission and Invaluable buyers are invoiced on the Monday after the sale and can pay by card through their account.

Location and viewing

The saleroom is at Tved Grønnevej 4B, 5700 Svendborg, with parking at the door. Between March 2025 and August 2026 the house held eleven live auctions, roughly one every one to three months, as well as its online sales. The next live auction is scheduled for 24 October 2026. Phone lines are open Monday to Thursday, and the house is closed on Fridays.
