History

Founder Dan Morphy grew up in a family of collectors, buying and selling still and mechanical banks by age ten. In 1997 he opened his first antique shop, specializing in toys and banks, and three years later purchased Jim Burk's semiannual York Antique Toy, Doll, Holiday and Advertising Show, gaining access to a network of dealers and collectors. In partnership with fellow dealer Tom Sage Jr., Morphy formally launched Morphy Auctions, moving the business from retail dealing into a full-scale auction operation.
